Scholarship Description

The Michael O. D. Brown Memorial Scholarship for Social Justice, Performing Arts, and Trades awards scholarships to college-bound high school seniors based on demonstrated academic achievement, financial need, and an expressed interest in enrolling into a post-secondary program in pursuit of a certification, associates, or bachelor’s degree in the performing arts or social justice/activism.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a graduating senior from Central Visual & Performing Arts, Jennings, McCluer, Normandy, River View Gardens, or University City High Schools
  • Plan to enroll at a community college, four-year university, or trade school
  • Demonstrate academic achievement and financial need
  • Active participation in community service
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA on most recent report card

Application Process

  1. Ensure you have applied or been accepted to a higher education program
  2. Gather proof of a minimum 2.5 GPA and community service within the last year
  3. Submit all required documents along with the completed application form

The students eligible for assistance must be graduating high school seniors attending the specified list of high schools who intend to continue their education at a community college, a four-year college or university or trade school. Consideration will be given to academic achievement, financial need and the student’s community service record.
